Swap: Neurology → Internal medicine

I am currently a PGY-1 resident in a four-year categorical Neurology residency program in South Carolina. Due to family reasons, I am hoping to relocate to the Chicago area to be closer to my family and continue my residency training.

I am open to transferring to Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, or Neurology, depending on program availability and eligibility. My primary goal is to find a suitable residency position in the Chicago area, including nearby suburbs.

Timeline: I am interested in exploring transfer opportunities as soon as possible, ideally for the next available position or academic year, depending on program needs and approval.

Key considerations: Since I am currently enrolled in a categorical Neurology program, the feasibility of transferring will depend on available PGY positions, specialty-specific requirements, acceptance of prior training, and the receiving program’s policies. I am flexible and willing to discuss the best pathway for a successful transition.
